A Study in Color and Character

Description

Tucked into the heart of West Hollywood, Bowling House is a fearless celebration of color, texture, and character. Once a humble duplex, the home was reimagined from the ground up into a vibrant retreat where every room tells its own story. Instead of playing it safe, the design embraces bold choices, immersing each space in saturated hues that are as cinematic as they are livable.

The house unfolds like a series of vignettes, each framed by keyhole-style thresholds that hint at the surprises beyond. The kitchen, bathed in deep teal and accented with marble counters, is both functional and dramatic. The adjoining dining nook, drenched in a chili-red finish, feels like stepping inside a jewel box—perfect for intimate dinners or editorial shoots. This play of contrast continues throughout the home, where rich tones and custom millwork meet a curated mix of vintage and bespoke furniture.

Light is choreographed as carefully as color. In the living room, sheer curtains filter sunlight across a sprawling sectional, softening the bold design elements. The bathrooms, clad in handmade zellige tile and warm plaster tones, turn routine moments into rituals. Skylights and carefully placed windows ensure that each room feels grounded yet glowing, a natural canvas for photography and film.

The bedrooms carry the theme forward with moody, enveloping palettes. Clay-colored walls and layered textures create a cocoon-like atmosphere, while expansive glass doors connect interiors to the lush outdoor greenery. The effect is intimate yet cinematic—spaces designed not just to be lived in, but to be remembered.

Outdoors, terracotta tiles and a striped awning set the stage for an alfresco dining area that feels at once Mediterranean and distinctly Los Angeles. Here, the palette softens, but the boldness of character remains. It’s an ideal transition from the saturated interiors to the relaxed California lifestyle just beyond the walls.

What makes Bowling House stand apart is its commitment to design as storytelling. Every corner offers a new perspective, whether it’s the glossy cabinetry, the sculptural lighting, or the unexpected color pairings. It is a home that resists the ordinary and leans into an unapologetic point of view—making it equally suited for private stays, creative gatherings, or as a backdrop for film and photography productions.

At once residential and editorial, intimate and expressive, Bowling House reflects a new era of Los Angeles design. It’s not just a space to pass through; it’s an environment that holds presence, demands attention, and inspires creativity.
