Description

Tucked away in the leafy enclave of Lafayette Square, 1672 Buckingham Road is a masterfully reimagined 1920s Mediterranean, recently brought back to life by the thoughtful hand of Los Angeles-based design studio CH Herrero. The result is a soulful restoration that gracefully bridges classical architecture with contemporary craftsmanship.

The façade, painted in a subtle stone hue and framed with sage-green trim, retains its original grandeur—arched windows, gentle curves and a commanding entryway—all hinting at the heritage within. Step inside and you’re met with interiors that are at once grounded and uplifting: light-flooded rooms layered with natural textures, bespoke joinery, and a curatorial approach to vintage and modern detail.

The kitchen, with its mint-green cabinetry and thick butcher-block surfaces, feels plucked from a dream somewhere between the Cotswolds and coastal California. Copper pots gleam beneath sculptural pendants, while a built-in window bench in sunflower yellow lends both cheer and function.

In the sitting room, original millwork and a tiled hearth set the tone for a softer, slower pace. Window seats beckon quiet moments, while low-slung furniture and playful textiles infuse the space with a quiet confidence. Throughout the home, one senses a deep respect for materiality—oak, terracotta, linen, ceramic—handled with restraint and reverence.

Beyond the interiors, the grounds offer a serene escape: a covered terrace for alfresco dining and a dedicated wellness deck complete with a sauna, cold plunge, and spa—designed for restorative living under the California sun.

This is not a renovation that shouts. Rather, it hums with the kind of quiet sophistication that can only come from a true understanding of place, light, and the poetry of lived-in design.
