A Floating Cedar Loft on Long Island’s Waterways

Description

Floating just off Long Island’s shoreline, Harbor Nest offers an unexpected blend of maritime grit and design polish. This three-level houseboat layers nautical heritage with warm, wood-lined interiors that feel as cinematic as they are livable. A steel spiral staircase connects the spaces, leading up to a crow’s nest suite with sweeping views across the marina.

Inside, every surface tells a story: raw cedar planks, slatted built-ins that double as storage, and circular porthole windows framing the water beyond. Flea-market treasures, mid-century seating, and playful objects — from sculptural fish to global textiles — lend the rooms a curated, lived-in character.

The top deck is a stage in itself, set up for golden-hour cocktails, intimate dinners, or creative shoots with the reeds and water as backdrop. The atmosphere shifts effortlessly from moody winter retreat to breezy summer hangout, making it versatile for productions, gatherings, or editorial storytelling.

More than a boat, Harbor Nest is a floating studio where every angle delivers a shot, a moment, or a mood.
