Description

Tucked within the exclusive coastal enclave of Careyes, Mexico, Casa La Huerta is a surrealist dream brought to life. Originally designed by Jean Claude Galibert and later expanded by architects Alex and Lorena Possenbacher, this estate blends bold architecture with lush jungle and ocean views.

The house feels like a living art installation, inspired by Edward James’ gardens in Xilitla, complete with sculptural flourishes and exotic landscaping.

The interiors, curated by designer Raven Kauffman, celebrate Mexican craftsmanship with pottery, textiles, and artwork by contemporary and indigenous artists. Casa La Huerta features six uniquely styled suites, a spa sanctuary, a Mongolian yurt, and two flexible-use rooms—accommodating up to 16 guests.

Notable highlights include a 24k gold-tiled mosaic serpent in the pool, the Cosmic Eye Bar with hammered brass and agate, and immersive installations like the “Gameletron” gong sculpture and a kaleidoscopic eye by FutureEyes.

Wellness is woven into the experience, with a cold plunge, sauna, massage offerings, and ceremonies that reconnect you with nature.

More than a luxury retreat, Casa La Huerta is a transportive world of its own—where art, architecture, and soul meet the sea.
