Ember House is a mid-century post-and-beam home in Woodland Hills with its original character intact. The interiors lean into its warmth: dark timber beams and tongue-and-groove ceilings run above cherry millwork, textured walls and brick-red pavers.
The pavers lead from the kitchen through the dining room and along a glass-walled gallery overlooking the flagstone courtyard. In the kitchen, a cherry island and cane bar stools sit beneath a skylight; nearby, a built-in banquette creates an intimate breakfast nook. The dining room centers on a sculptural black steel fireplace suspended over an open hearth, while the living room pairs wood panelling with a low sectional and a rust-colored rug. Large windows and the courtyard bring daylight into the rich interior palette.
Each space has a distinct mood. A cork-walled den, green mudroom and rose-plaster primary suite add color and texture without breaking the house’s visual rhythm. In the baths, floating marble vanities, reeded glass and tile in shades of red, sage and olive offer further details to explore. The primary shower is especially striking, with red tile and a circular skylight overhead.
For shoots, Ember House offers a series of connected spaces with different light, colour and texture: a skylit kitchen, a fireplace-led dining room, a wood-lined living room, a glass gallery and a courtyard, all within the same architectural setting.
